When I purchased my first pair of Castelli Chic Knickers, I imagined that I would use them most during the shoulder season — early fall and early spring. Given that most of fall and winter (so far) in Western North Carolina has felt like shoulder season, I’ve had to race to wash my single pair of tights to keep them at the ready for the past four months.
I love these knickers. They offer a very comfy waistband that does not cut into my belly. The interior fabric is soft and fleece-like making them cozy on cool days. The Donna chamois is perfect for me…not too bulky with enough comfortable padding for a long day in the saddle.
If I could change one thing it would be the color band on the front of the leg. In my opinion, a flash of color that moves with your pedal stroke can dramatically improve visibility for motorists. For that reason, I would prefer the color band to be present on both the front and back of each leg of these knickers.
I just loaded my shopping cart at Competitive Cyclist with a couple more pairs of these knickers while the price is right. If you are looking for a good option for shoulder season, you should snag this deal too.
I wear these knickers when the temp is 40-60 degrees with winds of 0-10 mph.
