Route Description
The summit of Mt Mitchell lies at 6,684’ and is the highest point east of the Mississippi River. That alone is enough to place it squarely on the epic rides list of avid cyclists. Bonus that the climb takes riders through protected forestland and along the Blue Ridge Parkway. This route is both physically and logistically difficult and completing it gives major bragging rights. With a start/finish at Pisgah Brewing in Black Mountain, one of the first craft breweries in Asheville, riders get a solid sample of why Western North Carolina is a cycling destination.
